Andrew Wood, founder and president of AHW Ministry Advisors

Hi, I’m Andrew.

Founder and President, AHW Ministry Advisors

A few years ago, our family was headed from Knoxville to a barn sale when the old church van… stickers on the back windshield and all… started to smell. My first thought was one of the kids. It turned out to be the radiator. We ended up stranded in a gas station parking lot with a trailer, a van full of children, and the sun going down.

Then a man named Jerome walked up. Then Cotton pulled in. Neither of them knew us. They just stopped.

I think about that night a lot, because it’s what I’ve watched pregnancy center folks do for years. They see someone in trouble, and they stop. They raise their hands.

Rooms like yours

I spent nearly a decade leading a large life-affirming non-profit ministry in Tennessee, and I served in senior leadership with state and national pro-life networks across the United States. Before that, I spent three years as a kids pastor. For nearly two decades I’ve spoken on stages large and small… banquets, churches, conferences, and men’s retreats.

I’ve prayed with directors. I’ve wept with them. I’ve celebrated with them. I’ve sat across tables from them and listened to the weight they carry. I know these people.

Why AHW Ministry Advisors

I started AHW Ministry Advisors to stand beside the people doing this work… coaching directors and boards, speaking at the nights that keep the doors open, and helping churches build Gospel-centered, disciple-making cultures where families flourish.

I don’t do any of it as someone who has it all figured out. I do it as a friend who has been in the room.

Home

Erin and I have been married for twenty years, and we have six children. Twenty years hasn’t made us experts. Most of what I know about leadership, I learned at our dinner table. The kids are watching, and they keep me honest.

Life with six kids is rarely quiet, and I wouldn’t trade it. Most nights the table is crowded and the conversation runs long. That’s where I’ve learned the most about patience, grace, and showing up when it matters.

It’s also where most of what I write and teach comes from. Hero, Ghost, Villain was written by an imperfect dad for the rest of us… and every Wednesday on From the Porch I share what we’re learning about marriage, raising kids, and loving the people God has placed in front of us.

So when I come to your center, your church, or your banquet, I’m not there as someone who has it all figured out. I’m a husband and a dad who is still learning, right alongside you.

Hero, Ghost, Villain

A Guide for Imperfect Dads Who Want to Grow, Lead, and Love Well.

A practical resource that helps fathers embrace their calling with courage and grace. It’s written by an imperfect dad for the rest of us.

From the Porch

Life, Leadership, and Family. I write every Wednesday morning, and I’d love for you to pull up a chair.

I’d love to meet you and hear your story.

Whether you're carrying a ministry, planning a banquet, or looking for someone to fill the pulpit, I'd love to hear your story.
